AFI adheres to the Guidelines for Charitable Organisations on Fundraising from the Public

Donor Charter

To ensure that philanthropy towards the ‘Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital’ gains the respect and trust of the general public and so that donors and prospective donors to the Hospital can have complete confidence in the work of the Acuity Foundation and the Hospital, we declare that all donors have these rights:

  • To be treated with respect and confidentiality at all times.
  • To receive appropriate thanks, acknowledgement and recognition in a timely fashion.
  • To feel free to ask questions, or give feedback and to receive prompt and truthful answers.
  • To be informed when requested whether those seeking donations are volunteers, third party agents or employees of the organisation.
  • To be informed of the identity of those serving on the governing boards of The Hospital and The Foundation (insert link here) and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgement in its stewardship responsibilities.
  • To be informed of the Foundation’s mission.
  • That all communication with our donors is honest and transparent.

Acuity Foundation commits to being accountable and transparent so that our past, present and future donors can have full confidence in Acuity Foundation, Ireland

  • Acuity Foundation accounts will be subject to an annual audit by a firm of independent auditors.
  • Acuity Foundation will file annual accounts with the Companies’ Office.
  • Acuity Foundation will publish annual accounts on www.acuityfoundationireland.org each year.
  • Donations will be handled responsibly with the highest level of accuracy and transparency.
  • Donors will be informed of the work of the Acuity Foundation and will be kept up to date as to how their donations are used to help support patients and staff at the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital.
  • We will ensure that funds raised in response to an appeal or from general donations will be used effectively to meet the critical needs of those areas of care in the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital that it was raised for or donated to. If it is not possible to expend all funds received as a result of a particular appeal, within a reasonable period or due to the changing needs of the Hospital we may redeploy the extra funds to another area of the Royal Victoria Eye & Ear Hospital. When this occurs, we will detail it in our annual report.

We commit to you, our donors, that Acuity Foundation Ireland staff will:

  • Be polite, courteous, transparent, accurate and honest.
  • Achieve the highest standards of professionalism at all times.
  • Comply with the Guidelines for Charitable Organisations on Fundraising from the Public.
